I was born in Spartanburg and have lived here all of my life. I attended Cooperative Elementary School, Evins Junior High School and Spartanburg High School. I graduated from Clemson University ( Go Tigers!) where I received a BS degree in Administrative Management. My two most cherished experiences at Clemson were 1) being a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity where I made some wonderful life long friends and 2) receiving the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award as a senior. It was during my junior year at Clemson that I began talking to my father about returning to take over the family restaurant. Although he had never said one word to me about doing this, I know that he was excited to know that Wade’s would continue into the future with a Lindsey at the helm. As it turned out, I graduated from Clemson in May of 1977 and on June 7, 1977 I was fully in charge of Wade’s Restaurant. I got a crash course in the real world during my first year out of college. In 1980 I met Lou Pittman who was attending Converse College in Spartanburg. We married in 1984 and she too has become a big part of Wade’s. Her official function is handling our bookkeeping and benefits, but you will almost always find her working in our Take-Out area on Thursday. We have two children – Wade III and Anna. When not working, I enjoy playing golf with my close friends, reading, spending time with my family, and believe it or not, eating out at other restaurants to see if I can learn something that will benefit Wade’s. |
