THAWING INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRODUCTS IN QUART CUPS

You can thaw your food in the refrigerator with no effort if you plan ahead

When frozen solid use the following times to insure that food items will thaw in time to cook.

  • Macaroni (48 hours)

  • Soufflé (12 hours)

  • Dressing (24 hours)

  • Broccoli Casserole (24 hours)

  • Cornbread Mix (24 hours)

Products that are semi frozen will thaw in less time than stated above.

Taking time to thaw your food ahead of time will make the job easier on cooking day!

If necessary, you can easily thaw items in quart cups in about 1 hour using the method outlines below.

STEP 1

Place food containers into a pot that is slightly shorter than the height of the quart containers. Using a pot that is shorter than the quart container will insure that water does not get into the food. Note: The taller the pot used for thawing the better, but it should not be taller than the quart container.

STEP 2

Place the pot into a sink and begin filling it with COLD water.

Do Not use WARM or HOT water to thaw your products!

STEP 3

When the pot is full and overflowing reduce the flow of the water to a very small stream.  The small stream of water will insure that the water in the pot is continually overflowing (changing) which will help to thaw the product quicker.

We have found that soufflé and dressing will thaw in 30 to 45 minutes, but macaroni will take longer to thaw if it is frozen solid.

Important: As soon as your food item has thawed you should put it back into the refrigerator until time to cook.  Do not allow food to sit out overnight to thaw under any circumstances!
