Frequency: Awarded to one Wade’s Restaurant, Inc. employee each school year.

Description: Awarded to one active Wade’s Restaurant or Wade’s Jr. team member each school year who plans to attend, or is currently attending, one of the seven public and private accredited college and universities in Spartanburg, SC.  

Purpose: Wade’s Restaurant has a rich history in Spartanburg, SC and is proud to support our community’s post-secondary education opportunities. Founder Wade Lindsey Sr. attended Spartanburg Methodist College, Wade Lindsey Jr.’s wife attended Converse University, and Wade Lindsey III proudly attended Wofford College. The purpose of the Wade’s Culture of Excellence Scholarship is to recognize an outstanding Wade’s team member who upholds our culture of excellence. At Wade’s, we work hard to delight our guests by consistently serving great food and providing fast service. It takes a special kind of person to be a part of the Wade's team because we strive for excellence, each and every day. It’s the Wade's Way. We are proud to support the effort to achieve excellence outside of the workplace and in academics.

Application requirements:

• Current team member at Wade’s Restaurant or Wade's Jr.
• Fill out the online application
• Maintain a 2.5 GPA. Transcript to be submitted to OneSpartanburg, Inc. for verification after each Fall/Winter Semester and Spring/Summer Semester.
• Be accepted into one of the seven Spartanburg area college or universities
• Have an outstanding attendance and citizenship log at Wade’s Restaurant or Wade's Jr. (meaning no final warnings or excessive attendance issues)
• Part-time and full-time team members are eligible.

Fine Print:

• If scholarship recipient leaves employment at Wade’s for any reason, any unpaid scholarship money will be forfeited
• Wade’s Restaurant, Inc. management, executive team and the corporate office team do not select who receives the scholarship each year. The recipient of the scholarship is selected each school year by OneSpartanburg, Inc.
• $1,500 paid out for the Fall/Winter Semesters then $1,500 paid out for Spring/Summer semesters if team member is still employed at Wade’s
• Scholarship payments will go directly to the college/university financial aid office
• Previous recipients of the scholarship can re-apply each year but are not guaranteed to receive more than once
• Must attend Converse University, Sherman College of Chiropractic, Spartanburg Community College, Spartanburg Methodist College, University of South Carolina UPSTATE, Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine - Carolinas (VCOM) or Wofford College to receive scholarship.
